In the summer of 2001 Rickard and Torbjörn decided to quit the band Unmoored. They started talking about putting a band together that wasn't that serious. Just to get together and play some metal. Thoron was then formed in the autumn of 2001. A couple of songs were made and shortly after that, a drummer named Markus joined the band. After a couple of months of rehearsing, guitarist Per also joined the band to make the guitarsound even more evil. After a little more than a year, 15 songs was written and the band choosed four of these songs for their first demo. I
In the autumn of 2003 a singer was finally found, Patrik. At the beginning of 2004 we finally had the first demo out and shortly after that the drummer Markus decided to quit the band.
A new demo called Return to dust was recorded 2005. It contained six brand new shredding and heavy as hell tracks. It was sent out to a handful of companies and the old cult company No Colours records heard the call. In June 2006 No Colours records released Return to dust which now also included three new songs. Great reviews followed and the band was featured on a few compilations.
In July 2007 a drummer was found, Patrik Olsson, and added to the troop.
No Colours records will release a compilation which will include a new song called 'Somebody...Out there ! '. This song will also be included on the coming album (but in a different version) which will be released 2008. Thoron are mainly inspired of old and raw metal. Feeling is always the winner in our world.
