“When human hearts break and human souls despair, the great vanquisher’s of distress and care, of shame and misery, of intellectual slavery and physical duress look down upon them from the twilight of the past, and hold out their eternal hands to faint-hearted mortals. Woe to the people that are ashamed to grasp them”
From the deep abyss of the ancient past, ancestral warrior spirits are returning in powerful manifestations. Forgotten melodies, born from the tumult of battle, fire and clashing steel. From times of war and conquering. From times of trails and tribulations. Melodies that remind us of our true cultural and spiritual identity, of strength and pride, of will and might of the sword, of life, struggle and death
LORD WIND is one such manifestation and a herald of the future, a true harbor of ancient Creed.
The spirit of European Paganism is very much alive and breathing in the melodies of LORD WIND. As Darken thus speaks: “...by the power and strength of the ancient Lords of Life, Struggle and Death, I have illuminated my inevitable path. Isolated from the world I play for ghosts of the past; ancient melodies that soothe the sadness and hatred. I am delving deep into a bygone era, distant times of proud heathenish cultures. Here, in this forgotten realms, I find things that are very much lost in the world today amongst my people: spiritual and racial identity, heathen and warrior consciousness, pride and honor of, and for, the White European nations”
Musically, LORD WIND is inspired by the old folk music, music of the Middle Ages, and soundtracks. LORD WIND’s music is permeated by the true arcane ancestral spirit of omnipresent war, struggle and death. The Middle Ages, contrary to popular belief, was very much pagan. The people who created music during this era were inspired by significantly great things in which, for the most part, today’s modern people are unable to understand. The people from this past era were closer to their true human nature, and not polluted by the technical maladies of modern society. This ancient music was inspired by pagan beliefs and cultural traditions. Although Christianity tried to destroy it, the pagan spirit survived, and flourished within these proud people and was manifested through their art and music.
Darken of GRAVELAND is the founder and the only member of LORD WIND, with its beginnings in 1994. The first unofficial demo tapes of LORD WIND songs were very unprofessional, but due to their originality, they garnered LORD WIND respect within the underground. As a result, Darken decided to record a full-length official LP. In September 1995, in ISENGARD STUDIO, Darken recorded the debut LP “Forgotten Songs”. ISENGARD PRODUCTION released this material as a tape version.
Soon after, the American label, FULL MOON PRODUCTION, begun to show an interest in LORD WIND. A contract was signed for two LPs. In May 1996, Darken recorded new versions of three songs from “Forgotten Songs”: ‘Song like Wind’, ‘Only your Spirit will Return’, and ‘Pagan Holocaust’. One new track ‘Funeral Song’, was also recorded and added to the CD version of “Forgotten Songs”.
Because of problems with FULL MOON PRODUCTION, mainly their lack of interest in new LP, Darken decided to part ways and cease cooperation. Later, Darken signed a contract with NO COLORS RECORDS. New LORD WIND material “Heralds of Fight” was recorded during the winter of 1999/2000.
Musically, LORD WIND, has changed during these past six years. Although the underlying inspirations are the same, “Heralds of Fight” is very different than “Forgotten Songs”. One can clearly recognize manifestations of the epic cult soundtrack Conan the Barbarian.
“Heralds of Fight” presents proud and spiritually strong music that stimulates the imagination. LORD WIND champions the true ethos of war and battle, and is used during warriors fight tournaments and pagan ceremonies, a perfect inspiration for such cultural occasions.
